A Home for Growing with Your Furry Friend

In this space, which features a 3.8-meter (about 12.5 feet) high ceiling and an interior of approximately 18 ping (around 600 sq ft), we have a family of two adults, one child, and a beloved pet. Since the interior isn’t huge, we really focused on keeping the first floor as open and high-ceilinged as possible. Our goal was to create a living area full of imagination and opportunities for interaction.

An Open Space with Interweaving Light and Shadow

The entire space uses white as its base, with occasional color blocks and gray lines woven throughout. On the first floor, we’ve integrated the living room, dining room, and kitchen, so every corner enjoys the warmth of natural light. The dining table isn’t just for meals; it’s a platform for the family to share their daily lives. This open public area allows the family of three to interact freely, and smart storage solutions ensure the space always stays neat and organized.

Cleverly Designed Vertical Flow

We’ve integrated the staircase behind the TV wall, making it part of the main feature wall. The combination of metal railings and solid wood treads creates a light, floating visual rhythm. The staircase isn’t just a way to connect the floors; it’s almost like an art installation, making the vertical movement a key part of the overall design. And for the furry family member, we’ve designed a dedicated “adventure zone”! On the second-floor living area, there’s a special cat play tunnel, allowing them to freely roam. Sometimes they’ll perch up high, looking down on the family’s activities, and other times they’ll leap down to interact with their owners, adding lively energy to the home.

Flexible Use of High Ceilings

We kept most of the space open with high ceilings, opting not to put in a wooden ceiling on the top floor to maximize the openness of the first-floor area. The second-floor living space is set on a mezzanine, which helps define different functional areas and adds richness to the overall space. Plus, above the public bathroom, we cleverly designed a small storage platform to meet the child’s evolving storage needs as they grow, really maximizing every inch of space.

A Multi-Dimensional Living Experience

Every part of this space was carefully considered through continuous discussions with the owners. It not only meets all their functional needs but also creates many more possibilities for interaction. The high-ceilinged public area brings a sense of fun to daily life, and the preserved open spaces allow for a natural visual flow. Whether it’s enjoying happy family time on the first floor or a quiet reading moment upstairs, this home truly embodies the ideal lifestyle for a modern small family.
